Halal Certification Support

Halal certification verifies that a product, and the process that made it, conform to Islamic dietary and manufacturing requirements. Its commercial significance is considerable: the global Halal market spans a very large consumer base, and Halal certification is a market-entry condition across the Gulf, Malaysia, Indonesia and much of Southeast Asia and North Africa.

The scope is wider than most manufacturers expect. It covers ingredient origin and status including processing aids, enzymes, emulsifiers and carriers; the absence of cross-contamination with non-Halal materials; segregation of production lines, utensils and storage; cleaning validation where shared equipment is used; slaughter method and certification where meat is involved; and traceability through the whole supply chain including logistics and warehousing.

India’s Halal landscape changed materially with the introduction of a mandatory conformity assessment scheme for Halal-claimed meat exports under i-CAS Halal. Exporters now need to understand not only the requirements of the destination market’s recognised Halal body, but also the Indian scheme governing the claim they make on the product.
